It’s time to order seeds
Seeds! Since Thanksgiving we have been receiving seed catalogs in the mail. We toss some immediately (that hardly seems fair!). Sometimes I wonder how they got our address, why did they choose me, why do they include so many flowers, what were they thinking?

The pigs are mostly Berkshire by breed, and most of them are black. They live in a very old building with unlimited access to the outdoors and are doing remarkably well with the cold and snow. They put their noses to the ground and plow their way through the drifts!

This fall was so nice for so long I guess winter had to come early. It has been an interesting year. Our first CSA delivery was actually in April and this one is in November, so that is 8 months! One year we did pick spinach for our fall share on Dec. 3–that was the…

No big news this week really. The weather has been unseasonably nice! Some have asked how things are growing, but most things are finished growing. This week is the last of the summer share and next week, same time, same…

We are in a transition week. We have all our summer help back to school and we have a trickle of college students starting to show up. We have now pulled all the yellow storage onions and have them on wagons or in the greenhouse for curing so they will store for the winter. The…
Read MoreNow taking orders for pigs and chickens
This week we have some heat, so we hope the peppers, eggplant, and sweet potatoes take off! Maybe more of the green peppers will turn red. After 2″ of rain last Wednesday and Thursday, this week’s predicted rain missed us, and we were able to set out broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale for fall. The…
